5 Months and Growing

Well, here it is. The monthly belly shot. It is always weird for me to take a new picture and compare it to the previous month. There is most certainly a steady growth going on these days. Luckily I enjoy the feeling of having a pregnant belly, even though I have my days where I just feel "large and in charge". I tell Todd this is only the beginning. There is much more belly to come.
Kellen should be a little over a pound at this point. He is getting bigger and stronger all the time. His kicks can really catch me off guard sometimes. He is almost always on the move, and I love it. Just 4 more months. We can't wait!

Proud Mama...

I was getting dressed for church the other day and Makenna was wanting to get dressed in my clothes as well. But everything I put on her practically fell right off. And then I saw this jersey and had to try it on her.
She absolutely loved wearing it, and I loved seeing my little girl ready to go play some ball, even if she did keep tripping because it was too long. She is in the 95% for her height, so I hope she uses her height to her advantage.
Really, I don't care what sports she does or does not play. I am more than happy to support my daughter in any area she wants to explore and pursue. I just want my baby to be happy.
But I still think she looks darn good in a basketball jersey. Just my opinion.

Oh, Makenna....

For the last month or so Makenna and I have been working on building a close relationship with the potty with the hopes that she will embrace it. We are just in the very early stages of potty training. Nothing hard core yet. But things are going well. Makenna loves her potty (and her potty loves her) and likes taking it around the house. She has also decided that she really enjoys sitting on the big potty, so we got her a potty ring and she has been practicing sitting up there, wiping herself, flushing....she pretty much has the whole process down except for the actual peeing part. She has no desire to actually "Go" potty. That's okay....one step at a time.
Makenna has also recently fallen in love with her baby doll. She takes care of her baby doll as if she were mommy and it was her real baby. It is adorable!
On Saturday night we went to dinner as a family. When we got home, I needed to use the restroom. But before I got to far in, I noticed something sticking out of the potty...Apparently Makenna has decided that her baby needs to be potty trained as well. So she took it upon herself to show the baby the potty. And boy did she give her baby a really close look at the potty. I couldn't help but laugh, so I had Makenna come into the bathroom and pose next to the baby in the potty. So cute.
When I went to take the baby out of the potty and go wash and dry her, Makenna had a bit of a melt down. So Todd went to get a different baby for her to play with. She immediately took that baby and headed straight for the potty. Needless to say, we are keeping a close eye on how much contact baby dolls have with potties from here on out.
This is just another reason why I love this little girl So Much!

SHAMU, SHAMU!!!

Over the weekend we took our first family trip to Sea World. We met up with Grammy, Grampy, Uncle David and Auntie Rah Rah and had a lot of fun. It was a hot day, but that didn't slow us down one bit. Okay, maybe just a tad slower, but not much, I promise.
Makenna really enjoyed herself. Her highlights were petting the sting rays (did more splashing in the water than actual petting), watching and feeding the sea lions, and going to the Shamu show (she actually paid attention to it!)
It was a lot of fun to get out and spend some quality, fun time together.
We Love Shamu! :)
Being silly with Auntie Rah Rah.
Miss independent wanted to be walking by herself most of the time, but we forced her to take a few pictures so we could "capture the moment"

Do you think we will embarrass our children when they get older?? (I sure hope so)

Nothing too crazy...

Well, there has not been much out of the ordinary happening around our house these days. Though every day with a 21 month old is unique and exciting in it's own way. Makenna is definitely embrassing the independent streak and short temper that so many toddlers go through. But it is still pretty comical most of the time. I can't help but laugh at her. She is so much fun and such a goof. We are so lucky to have her. Here is a bit of what we are up to.
Makenna decided that she likes to be swaddled and carried like a baby over to the couch when we get out of the shower or bath. It is quite cute. And it works for me, because it is the only way she lets me dry her off.
You have got to love San Diego. We have already had a number of days in the 90's, so we have been able to bust out the pool, which Makenna has loved!
As goes with toddlerhood, diapers and pants are now over-rated. She loves running around with naked buns. And who wouldn't if you had buns that cute!
I was painting my toes one day, and Makenna decided that she should have her toes painted too. I think it looks adorable, though it does make her look so old and grown up! She totally has my toes...I love it!

IT"S A......

BOY!!!
Todd and I are totally thrilled. It is so great to know that we are going to be having a son. It makes the pregnancy feel much more personal and real in a lot of ways. We can't wait! We have the girl, the boy, the dog...all we need is the white picket fence.

Our little boy is going to be named Kellen Edward Walter McKamey. The middle names are mine and Todd's maternal grandfathers names. And both of us just fell in love with the name Kellen the minute we heard it. We were each drawn to it right away and the name just seems perfect for this little man that is going to be joining our lives.

Everything else at the ultrasound went wonderful as well. All of the babies body parts and organs were accounted for and looked just as they should. He was doing back flips and wouldn't sit still the entire time...he is a active little one for sure! He needs to be to keep up with his big sister. He checked in at 12 ounces and is about 6-7 inches long right now. The projected due date based on his measures was Sept 27th. We are pretty much half way there :)

Say Cheese!

So, my kid loves cheese.
No, actually, it goes beyond love. Her desire, obsession, passion for cheese is truly an amazing thing. You say the word, and she starts flipping out, frantically saying "cheez, cheez, cheez" until you give her some. She loves all sorts of cheese too...she does not discriminate at all. Any cheese is embraced with a mouth wide open. Though I think her favorite is string cheese.
The nice thing is that if you can't get her to eat anything else, you can always count on cheese to be accepted by her picky little palate. The bad thing is that if she happens to see any cheese, or if you accidentally say the word cheese, then she will eat nothing but cheese.
What can you do, right?
"Hi, my name is Makenna and I am a Cheese-aholic." I mean look...is this not just PURE JOY and Happiness here?
