You know the kind of people that always seem to take life so seriously? The ones that you just wish would relax and smile and have a little fun every now and then? Well, they aren't my kids.
Pumpkin carving, a much anticipated event in the McKamey home was fun this year....just not as smooth as one could have hoped for. We got started a bit late, and thanks to the horrible time change it was pretty much dark by the time we got set up outside to clean out the pumpkins. Makenna and Conner with thrilled at the prospect of playing with and cleaning out all the pumpkin guts. Though with those two it was a lot more playing and a lot less cleaning. Kellen was disgusted and wanted absolutely nothing to do with anything you could remotely consider pumpkin guts. And of course right about this time Carys decided she was hungry. So with one arm I held and nursed the baby and with the other hand attempted to scrape loose the innards of Makenna and Con's pumpkins while Todd soothed Kellen and cleaned his out for him.
Once inside it was not all that much different. Makenna did pretty good at tracing her design and cutting out her pumpkin. With one hand I tried helping Con make a very basic one for his. And Kellen, who was still traumatized by the sight of all the guts and slimy seed, sat by and watched/instructed Dad while he carved the pumpkin (with a knife whose blade kept bending and needing to be re-straightened).
But in the end it was all smiles and cute Jack-o-lanterns to display on Halloween. Which is what matters, right?

Oh yeah, Kellen did put some plastic eyes in his pumpkin. So I guess technically he did something hands on.
Con and Brooke having a dance party together and getting in the holiday spirit.

Meanwhile in baby land....
Little Carys, tiny as can be, was so small that she was practically swimming in her newborn jammies. Seriously. All my other babies could barely fit in this stuff for a week. With her we had to roll up the sleeves and just deal with it being huge. After a few days home from the hospital she had dropped down to 5 lbs 13 oz. But as soon as my milk was in she put the weight back on fast.
She was a very, very sleepy girl for the first month. Seriously, slept almost All the time. If she was not in the mood to be woken up, it didn't matter what you did to her. She would just keep right on sleeping!

A rare awake moment with Grammy.
Carys on the blanket the Grandma McKamey made for her. It is absolutely adorable!

Conner, whom I was most concerned about adjusting well, did just the opposite of what I anticipated. He was obsessed with little Carys. Always wanting to hold her and kiss, touch her, look at her, just be close to her as much as he could.

And all 3 kids had a fun movie night one night. I let them watch The Wizard of Oz for the first time, thinking for sure at least a couple of them would pass out. But sure enough, all 3 stayed awake and engaged the entire movie. It is cute seeing the kids get bigger and be able to start having a new kind of fun with them.
